A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has returned an indictment charging an Ogden certified public accountant with defrauding two clients of about $700,000. M. Bradley Folsom is charged with one count of wire fraud, two counts of money laundering, and three counts of filing false income tax returns. Folsom allegedly defrauded the clients by presenting a "tax planning opportunity" in the form of a shell company called Antelope Oil and Gas (AOG), which Folsom claimed was in the gas and oil business.

Two cousins from Ohio who shipped hard-core pornographic movies to Utah were each sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in federal prison. Sami Harb, 44, and Michael Harb, 35, who operated the now-defunct Cleveland-based Movies by Mail, had each pleaded guilty to one count of selling obscene material. U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman has called the films violent and extreme and lacking artistic value.

A Lindon man charged in connection with an $18 million Ponzi scheme is now accused of trying to have witnesses in the case against him killed from the Davis County Jail. Jeffrey Lane Mowen, 47, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Salt Lake City late Wednesday on charges of solicitation to commit a crime of violence, witness tampering, retaliating against a witness and willfully causing another to commit a federal crime. The charges are in addition to a wire fraud charge he is facing in connection wit
